Gautam Daftary

Founder & Chairman

A medical doctor by qualification, Dr. Daftary is a second-generation entrepreneur with a successful record of accomplishment of starting various companies in the healthcare domain – from Diagnostics to Healthcare Delivery. He has founded several companies like Bharat Serums and Vaccines Private Limited, Siro Clinpharm Private limited and Aksigen Hospital Care, among several others.

Some of the notable contributions from BSV are the equine biologicals for anti-toxins (anti snake venom serum) and anti-virals (anti-Rabies serum), nanotechnology-based Amphotericin emulsion for Kala Azar, and biotechnology-derived monoclonal Anti D in hemolytic disease of the newborn, monoclonal tetanus immunoglobulin for treatment of tetanus and Ulinastatin for treatment of sepsis and Acute Pancreatitis.

Until divesting his equity stake in BSV to a large US-Based private equity firm, Dr. Daftary was primarily responsible for research and development, manufacturing and global sales in the organization

Akshay Daftary

CO-FOUNDER & DIRECTOR

Akshay is an entrepreneur who has played a pivotal role in driving change and innovation at SIRO. He provides strategic direction, leadership, and guidance to the management of the company to fulfill its mission and goals.

During the tenure of his professional career and as member of the Board of various group companies, he has developed a strong acumen for setting up robust systems & processes, oversight of large operation teams & creating of new business verticals.

He started his career at Bharat Serums and Vaccines in the business development department in 2014 and has played various roles across the group companies

Akshay graduated with a dual degree from Emory University, Atlanta, USA in Economics and Mathematics

Karan Daftary

CO-FOUNDER
(Mumbai/New Jersey)

Karan plays a significant role in the executive leadership at SIRO& works collaboratively with management to best steer the organization.

As a part of the Board of various group companies, he ensures alignment of support functions to enhance business needs and requirements. His expertise lies in the areas of Finance, Human Resources, Quality Assurance, IT, Legal and Corporate Marketing.

He developed his business acumen by working with the Puma Group as a Student Management Consultant to address business challenges related to integration of sports and technology. He has a passion for sports and angel investing.

Karan graduated with distinction from Babson College, Boston, USA with a concentration in Finance and Entrepreneurship.

Dr. Vatsal Shah

GLOBAL CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER AND BUSINESS HEAD – US
(New Jersey)

Dr. Vatsal is a physician by education and comes with more than 20+ years’ experience of clinical research and is based out of SIRO’s office in New Jersey, United States. While being the Global COO of the organization, he is also the Business Head in the US. He has been a part of SIRO for 10+ years, over 2 stints.

Vatsal started as an academician at KEM hospital immediately after his MD, and has had stints with Reliance, Cognizant, and Novartis

Dr. Vatsal’s key achievements include establishing departments and leading their expansion plans, operational efficiency, and sales growth including SIRO’s medical writing team. This includes SIRO’s medical writing, medical monitoring, and pharmacovigilance groups back in 2001, Reliance’s medical affairs and pharmacovigilance department in 2008, Novartis’ first-of-its-kind medical writing and publication writing unit in India in 2005.
